What is Recreational Soccer?

Recreational Soccer

Recreational soccer is the "starting point" for all soccer players at South Lakes Soccer Club.  South Lakes Soccer Club ("SLSC")  provides a United States Soccer affiliated recreational soccer program for youth from ages 4 to 19.  It is SLSC's goal to provide an atmosphere of fun, education and challenge to all children seeking to participate in soccer.

At SLSC, we believe the purpose of recreational soccer is to provide an opportunity to all children in the Oklahoma City/Moore areas to experience, have fun, learn the sport and develop like skills including a lifelong love of the game. Accordingly, we have designed our recreational program to maximize fun over winning and to teach each child the basics of the game.  Recreational soccer is offered as our "just for fun" division.

Volunteers are the lifeblood of our recreational program. We are fortunate to have hundreds of volunteer coaches who have provided leadership for children of all ages. These volunteer coaches typically lead practice 1 – 2 days per week and coach one game per week, usually on Saturdays. Players are also offered optional weekly “skills clinic” through our Friday night Headstart program conducted by professional coaches from our academy/competitive staff.  Teams are not built based on skill or ability.  Players in the U8-U10 age groups seeking more of a challenge should consider our Academy Program.  Players in the U11-U19 age group should consider Competitive Soccer.
